Orbit Electronics Group’s Tulip Development Laboratory Announces Entry into the Ultra-rugged Hand-held Field-computer Market with Three Xhand™ Environmental Workhorses

World-leading Human-Machine-Interface product designer and manufacturer now offers complete XHAND™ computer systems for mission-critical military, geological, industrial, commercial and private applications.

Tulip Development Laboratory (TDL), part of the Orbit Electronics Group, and a world-class provider of custom integrated keyboards, illuminated data entry devices, and display products for military and industrial applications, has announced that it has added three full-function, hand-held field computers to its line.

Each of these is a powerful and compact mobile solution for users that require high-performance; outstanding reliability; and extreme survivability in even the harshest environments.

XHAND™ PREVAIL 1
Ultra-rugged Smartphone with 4-inch Display

XHAND™ PREVAIL 1 transcends size, toughness, and reliability, to offer field professionals and outdoor enthusiasts the proven reliability of a rock-solid hand-held in a function-rich Smartphone that runs the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 operating system.

With its slim design and light weight (6.3 ounces / 180 grams), it’s in a carry-class with other popular Smartphones. But, its rugged design and engineering -- unmatched by any consumer Smartphone -- puts it in a class of its own.

Built for the toughest conditions in work and play, the waterproof XHAND™PREVAIL 1 meets stringent MIL-STD-810G and IP67 requirements for protection from dust, water, vibration, shock, and altitude or temperature extremes. It features a powerful 1 GHz dual-core processor and 512 MB of RAM, for unbeatable performance in the field, whether displaying vivid images and graphics, or using customized work software. It comes with 2 GB of onboard memory, and memory is expandable via a MicroSD card slot.

The 4-inch, 800 x 480 WVGA capacitive touch screen is sunlight-readable and scratch-resistant. The back contains a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with an LED flash, for crisp photos in low light or total darkness.

XHAND™ PREVAIL 1 provides reliable voice and high-speed data transmission worldwide over GSM or CDMA networks, and connects to 802.11 b/g/n WiFi networks. A standard 1530 mAh Li-Ion battery offers extended operating time, and embedded GPS, E-compass, and G-Sensor are included.

XHAND™TRIUMPH 7
Ultra-rugged, Full-function Pocket PC with 5.56-inch Display

XHAND™ TRIUMPH 7 is the next generation in mobile PC performance. This rugged tablet PC is small, lightweight and fast. It provides a myriad of connectivity options and a wide range of functionality. Its 5.56” display, sharp images, and impressive color make it a smart choice for working with detailed maps and other complex visuals. Its full Windows 7 Professional PC capability provides desktop-like functionality not matched by any small-screen hand-held. It has also been designed, built, and tested to be the toughest of the tough, and survive in even the most challenging environments, where weather extremes and rough handling are unavoidable.

XHAND™ TRIUMPH 7 features an impressive Intel Atom 1.6 GHz processor, with a massive 64 GB SSD and 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, so it gives you the power to use all the top PC applications…anywhere.

XHAND™ TRIUMPH 10
Ultra-rugged, Full-function Mobile PC with 10.8-inch Display

XHAND™ TRIUMPH 10 is a state-of-the-future tablet PC that withstands extreme weather and the harsh handling required by today’s mobile workforce. It has a powerful Intel® Atom™ N2800 dual-core processor with a 64 or 128 GB SSD, expandable via microSD™, and 4 GB of DDR3 RAM. It provides impressive computing capability and massive storage capacity, runs the Windows 7 Ultimate operating system, and is ready for Windows 8.

XHAND™ TRIUMPH 10 features the latest generation of MaxView™ technology, with a brilliant 10.8-inch touch screen perfect for field professionals that need a large display to handle detailed maps or other complex visuals. The screen’s ambient light sensor adjusts backlighting automatically, so collecting data in bright sunlight is just as easy as reviewing it indoors.

At just 2.9 pounds, and 1.2 inches thick, XHAND™ TRIUMPH 10 is easily carried anywhere. It is IP65-rated and meets stringent MIL-STD-810G requirements for protection from dust, water, vibration, shock, altitude and temperature extremes.

With its integrated u-blox® GPS receiver and WAAS/EGNOS/MSAS capability, XHAND™ TRIUMPH 10 is a powerful and accurate tool for mapping and surveying. It offers ultimate mobility and continuity with antenna pass-through connectors for both GSM and GPS that allow an external antenna to be used when the unit is docked. The unit’s hot-swappable power capability (via a lithium-ion battery pack) supports all-day operation without stopping or shutting down.
