The ALYC (American Legion Yacht Club) “Old Glory” Boat Parade

The ALYC (American Legion Yacht Club) “Old Glory” Boat Parade took place this Fourth of July Weekend to commemorate United States Veterans. This year’s theme was “Celebrating Our Heroes”.

What better way to celebrate our heroes than with food, fireworks, and music at one of the most beautiful Posts in the country. The Make-A-Wish volunteers provided a pancake breakfast and face painting service to visitors to put smiles on their faces and delicious food in their bellies. This was followed by a lunch buffet and of course the famous ALYC “Old Glory” Boat Parade which kicked off at Collins Island and proceeded through-out Newport Harbor.

There were 33 official entries and others who joined in during the parade as they toured the harbor. Scuba.com with the help of dema.org added a massive 12 foot tall blowup diver installment to one of the boats in the parade that could not be missed. Live Rock and jazz music closed out the night, and to top it all off, there was a fireworks display that could rival any other to ring in this year’s Independence Day weekend.

Special thanks to all of the event planners and volunteers who made this 4th of July celebration a special one to remember.
