To KICK OFF OUR 20TH ANNIVERSARY, The House of Charity announces launch of Children’s Mobile Library Program during National Reading Month.

HOUSTON, TX, (03-14-2017), The House of Charity announces a Collection Drive to benefit the children of our high poverty areas of Houston; through its Children’s Mobile Library (CML) Program. It is a reading empowerment program for children grades pre K to 5th grade. The primary goal of CML program is to provide the children the opportunity to read and to encourage and motivate them to improve their reading skills.

Reading at an early grade level is critical as children Learn to Read from grades K–3th grade and Read to Learn from 4th grade. Falling behind create many challenges and by the end of the 4th grade low-income students are already 2 years behind grade level. By the time they reach the 12th grade they are 4 years behind. According to the Department of Justice, “The link between academic failure and delinquency, violence, and crime is welded to reading failure”.

“After 18 months of a breast cancer marathon I am blessed to be alive, healthy and working on what has always been my passion of helping children in need, In my 2nd chance at life would like to ignites a love of reading in struggling children in school,  CML program will not only help children excel in reading but also motivate them to continue reading and they will succeed in school and life, says Hashmat Effendi, Founder of The House of Charity. We need your help- Our goal is to collect the following items by April 14th 2017:

--- Children’s books  (New or slightly used - Pre k thru grade 5 -English books only)

--- Toys & Pajamas (New - Age 5 to 12 - girls & boys)

--- School Bus to convert in Children’s Mobile Library
