Washington state officials fear asbestos violations at youth center

The State of Washington has announced that they will fine a Wenatchee contractor for committing over a dozen asbestos abatement violations when renovating a youth center.

State officials claim that Evergreen Asbestos Solutions failed to follow state regulations in regards to asbestos removal. Some of the 14 violations include failure to provide workers with safety gear including face masks that cover beards and goatees where asbestos can settle, failure to ensure exposure assessment prior to removal and after, failure to have competent supervision, among other charges.

Asbestos is known to cause a number of serious pulmonary conditions including mesothelioma, a type of lung cancer. Mesothelioma is often fatal and it is crucial that people in charge of an asbestos abatement project take precautions to protect their workers and people living in adjacent areas.

Employers, who did not provide protection for their employees, have been subjected to lawsuits initiated by mesothelioma attorneys and the people they represent.

The owner of Evergreen Asbestos Solutions is contesting the state’s charges, saying that provided protection for their employees and did follow the right steps to prevent asbestos exposure to people living in the area.

Mesothelioma lawyers have made it possible for the victims of asbestos exposure to obtain the funds they need for their health care.

When a person who has contracted asbestos-related diseases hires an accomplished mesothelioma attorney they can be assured that someone is standing up for their rights.
