A South Florida judge has a very important decision to make. He will decide if former New York Yankees player Jim Leyritz will wait for his trial in or out of jail. Leyritz was arrested last week after his ex-wife accused him of beating her. The 45 year old was free on bail from a prior manslaughter charge. The judge ruled that because of his latest arrest he violated the conditions of his release, and ordered him to remain jailed. His trial is scheduled to begin September 14, 2009. Police stated he was drunk when he caused a fatal car crash in December 2007.
Jim Leyritz played for six different teams in eleven seasons. While with the New York Yankees he hit one of the most memorable home runs during the 1996 World Series. That contribution helped the Yankees win Game 4 against Atlanta.
