Employers Hiring Workampers for Upcoming Season

Winter is a Busy Time at Workamper News

Workamper News is busy providing its members with job opportunities all across America.  Most of the jobs advertised are for the spring/summer season which begins in April or May and runs through Labor Day or a bit longer.  Employers advertise their job openings either as a daily Hotline Advertisement that Workamper Plus members get emailed to them every day or through the print or online magazine that comes out every other month.  Workamper Basic members avail themselves of the print magazine’s classified advertisements while Workamper Green members view their subscription online. 

There are several levels of membership in order to meet the needs of everyone, says Steve Anderson, president of Workamper News.  The higher level of membership, the more benefits offered.  “We don’t just post ads…we prepare our Workampers to live successfully. “

Job opportunities abound throughout the United States and are as diverse as the Workampers who seek them.  Some jobs are for those that enjoy living in remote places, at wildlife preserves or deep in the forests.  Other jobs require extreme people-persons, such as for amusement, water parks, family RV parks and the like.  Hosting at U.S. Corps of Engineer parks can be a little of both.  If you like being outdoors and working independently on beautification projects and maintenance, or working in an office as a reservationist or in a gate booth, there are plenty of opportunities. 

DNC Parks at Yellowstone will host a Jobinar for Workamper members through Workamper News so that Workamper members can learn and ask questions about what it would be like living and working for a whole season in such amazing natural surroundings.  Amazon hired over two thousand Workampers through Workamper News for three of its fulfillment centers for the holiday season (October through early January) and will seek even more Workampers in 2012. There are a plethora of job opportunities that most people couldn’t even imagine, giving Workampers plenty of choices of where they could live for a season or even all year long. Winter is the time that most Employers begin the hiring process for April through September or October.   

“That’s not to say there aren’t any jobs advertised for this month or the next few months.  Circumstances often occur that mean there could be job openings right now when Employers find they have a need.  The Daily Hotline advertisements are advantageous for both Employers seeking immediate employees and Workampers that can pick up and go at the drop of the hat.  In actuality, that  is a favorite aspect of Workamping—having the freedom to be spontaneous and seek out jobs and adventure in new places, for as many months as one wants to commit to” Anderson exclaimed.

Workamper News began in 1987 as an eight-page newsprint subscription periodical distributed to a niche market.  The term Workamper, a registered trademark, was coined by then-owners Greg and Debbie Robus, to describe anyone who combines any kind of work with the RV camping lifestyle.
