Lance Armstrong has climbed to within one second of the overall lead currently held by Fabian Cancellara after his team, Astana, captured the time trials in Stage 4 of the Tour de France on Tuesday.
The Astana squad needed to beat Cancellara’s Saxo Bank team by more than 40 seconds for Armstrong to grab the yellow jersey and by the end of the 24.2-mile ride through Montpellier just one second separated Armstrong from that lead.
While both Armstrong and Cancellara share an overall time of 10 hours, 38 minutes, 7 seconds it is the Swiss riders who retains the yellow jersey heading into Stage 5, a 122-mile trek from Le Cap d'Agde to Perpignan.
