Kobe Bryant’s soon to be ex-wife won big with a divorce property settlement. Vanessa will get three of the couple’s homes in Newport Beach, according to TMZ.
Vanessa’s
divorce lawyers were able to negotiate a $75 million settlement, almost half of the couple’s mutual assets.
Vanessa filed for divorce in December of last year after rumors of Kobe’s numerous extra-marital affairs surfaced. Kobe was accused of sexual assault in 2003 but the charges were dropped and he had to eventually admit to cheating.
The allegations of cheating surfaced again last year and that proved to be the final straw for Vanessa.
When the couple married 10 years ago they did not sign a pre-nuptial agreement, which has become fairly common for the wealthy.
Vanessa is seeking joint custody of their two children with Kobe getting visitation rites, indicating that she will have primary custody.
With such large settlements pending, it generally takes
divorce attorneys longer than a month to obtain a judgment of this magnitude.
High-profile divorces can get messy and drag on for months, but not in Kobe and Vanessa’s case. Even though Kobe cheated on Vanessa, she has not acted like a jilted woman and has been silent about their split.
Not all divorces end so easily.
Divorce attorneys can be the voice of reason in a contentious split and work in the best interest of the people they represent.
