One man dies in multi-truck accident in Idaho

A multi-truck and car pile up in the Cocolalla Creek on Saturday morning led to the death of a Texas man.

According to the Coeur d’Alene Press, the accident occurred early Saturday morning on U.S. 95 when the driver of a Civic coupe, Zachary B.Henager, traveling southbound lost control of his vehicle. Henager went left of the center line and crashed into an empty flat-bed truck driven by Richard Walston.

Walston’s truck went left of the center line and struck another flat-bed truck driven by James Mady carrying peat moss head-on. The flat-bed tipped over on its side, blocking the northbound and southbound lanes. Mady’s truck went into the southbound ditch; he died as a result of the accident.

Another gasoline tanker truck which was empty at the time took evasive measures to avoid Henager’s vehicle and went off the road into the ditch. The gas tanker driven by Brian Fendos also ran into another truck towing a livestock trailer driven by Pavlo Shevchuk. Shevchuk’s lost control of his truck and drove into the northbound ditch.

Walston and Henager were both injured and are listed in critical condition. Fendos and Shevchuk were not injured and refused medical treatment.
