The Washington wizards coach Flip Saunders was fired this Tuesday. He is being replaced by assistant Randy
Wittman. Wittman will be holding the
role for the remainder of the season.
The Wizards have suffered a dismal season by falling 2-15 which
includes 0-7 on the road and a 20 point loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on
Monday. The team will be playing against
the Charlotte Bobcats this Wednesday.
Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld said in a statement released by the
team, “We felt the team had become unresponsive, and we will look to Randy to
provide a different voice and a change in philosophy moving forward.” Grunfeld continued to say, “We have been
transparent in how we would evaluate our team this season and we were
disappointed in the lack of development of our players at this point our
rebuilding plan.”
This season was Saunder’s third with the Wizards. His starting roster featured Gilbert Arenas,
Antawn Jamison, and Caron Butler. The
franchise is now rebuilding around John Wall.
The Wizards will be Wittman’s third job as an NBA head coach.
