Paris Jackson Caps Off Heartfelt Memorial for Father Michael Jackson

Paris Jackson, the daughter of Michael Jackson, gave a captivating finale to her father’s public memorial Tuesday.

The public memorial was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles after the private funeral at the Forest Lawn Memorial-Park in Hollywood Hills.

The younger Jackson, 11, was the final speaker on the podium as the rest of her family gathered around, following her uncle Marlon’s tearful speech.

“Since the day I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine," Paris said in her speech, crying as she was surrounded by family.

"And I just want to say I love him so much," she said right before she was hugged by her aunt Janet Jackson.

The only other family member to speak was Marlon, who sobbed during his delivery of childhood memories. “Michael, I will treasure the good times, the fun we had, singing, dancing laughing,” said Marlon. “We would try to watch the Stooges before Mom said it was time to go to the record studio."

Marlon lamented in the fact that Michael was now away from the scrutiny that plagued his life "Maybe now Michael, they will leave you alone." He finished by asking Michael to give Marlon's dead twin Brandon a hug for him in heaven

Earlier in the memorial, Michael’s brother Jermaine Jackson sang “Smile” by Charlie Chaplin, which was said by Brooke Shields to be Michael’s favorite song.

The star-studded tribute was full of songs as many artists sang in Jackson’s honor. Stevie Wonder serenaded the crowd with “I Never Dreamed You'd Leave in Summer” and “They Won't Go When I Go”; Mariah Carey resounded with her classic rendition of “I’ll Be There” with singer Trey Lorenz; pregnant Jennifer Hudson belted “Will You Be There?” with a choir; Lionel Richie sang “Jesus Is Love”; Usher gave a tribute to his mentor with “Gone Too Soon”; and John Mayer took the stage with a guitar version of “Human Nature”.

Singer Smokey Robinson began the tribute as he read letters from Diana Ross and Nelson Mandela. Queen Latifah called Jackson “the biggest star on Earth” as she read a poem by Maya Angelou.

It is expected than over a billion people around the world witnessed the memorial either watching it over the internet or on television.
