Why Do People Relapse?

When a person starts to use drugs they are not aware of what is going on in their bodies.  They only know it feels good.  When he first took the drug his body identified them as being poison.  The liver and the kidneys immediately go to work to metabolize the drugs and break the down for removal from the body.  While this process of metabolization is going on a by-product called metabolite is created.  It is a residue of the drug and a small chemical reminder.

These metabolites have a tendency to combine with or they are capable of dissolving in lipids or fats.  Some of the drug metabolites are excreted through the breath, sweat or urine but some of them will get caught up in the fatty tissues of your body and they will stay there for a period of time.  Maybe they will be there for weeks, months, or years it all depends on what drug and the makeup of your body like body fat content or rate of metabolism.  What happens next with all these metabolite in your body?

Alabama drug rehabs, and rehabs in many other states, have found that any time you get mad, excited, stressed out have sex or even exercise your heart starts to beat faster and fat is burned for energy.  When the fat cell is burned it can release the drug metabolite back into your bloodstream traveling to your brain and it gives you a tiny taste of that drug.  So what do you think that does to you?  It makes you want more of the drug.  That is why people relapse.  Your body would be reminding you of the drug.

There is an answer to this drug-induced craving.  Drug rehabs can help.  If you need assistance, call 1-877-340-3602.
