UPDATE: Hostage in Platte Canyon High School Shooting Dies

The female student that was shot by the gunman who entered Platte Canyon High School earlier Wednesday has died. She had been airlifted after a SWAT team raided the school and found the gunman dead and the remaining two hostages.

The man that entered a Bailey, Colorado school earlier today and began shooting has died. After taking a total of six hostages, the man began talking with negotiators and gave them a 4:00pm deadline to meet his demands.

He released four hostages throughout the standoff but held on to two female hostages until the end.

After the 4:00pm deadline, and with no further word from the gunman, the SWAT team entered the Platte Canyon High School building  The second hostage suffered no apparent physical injuries during the ordeal.

The gunman apparently took his own life.
