No charges for Knoxville teen who fatally injured a man in wheelchair

The 18 year-old Knoxville woman who was driving a car that struck and killed a man in a motorized wheelchair last year will not be charge for the accident.

The accident occurred on a busy section of Kings Pike last September.  Larry Dean Masterson, 68, was killed when a SUV driven by Chandler Leigh Huneycutt struck him.

Huneycutt was on Forest Glenn when she made a left turn onto Kings Pike and collided with Masterson in his wheelchair. Huneycutt told police that she did not see the man crossing the street. Police stated that there was evidence which showed that she looked both ways before making the turn and had the right of way.

Police also stated that Masterson was “traveling at a high rate of speed” and did not come into Huneycut’ts line of vision until after she looked.

Masterson was hit by Huneycutt’s SUV and dragged fifty feet. He was pronounced dead at the Tennessee Medical Center.

In this particular accident the police determined that Huneycutt was not negligent. However there are many accidents caused by a driver’s negligence and an accident attorney will work to prove this in court.

An accident lawyer will work to assure that their clients are justly compensated when another driver causes them injury. When you have an accident attorney working on your case you can be confident that you will have a favorable outcome.
