Plastic surgery around the world remains relatively unaffected by the health concerns caused by French manufacturer of breast implants who admitted they used substandard silicone.
Paris-based IMCAS, which represents plastic surgeons, stated that plastic surgeries such as liposuction, breast implants and Botox grew by 10.1 percent on 2011.
The IMACS also stated that cosmetic surgery procedures are projected to rise to 11.2 percent in 2012.
Close to 400,000 women, from Europe and South America received the defective breast implants, but this hasn’t slowed the demand for plastic surgery. Over 20 million women worldwide have breast implants. One of the authors of the study said that the effects of the health scare will be localized. Cosmetic surgery has become more socially acceptable and shows no signs of slowing.
Aside from breast implants, liposuction is one of the most requested cosmetic surgery procedures. Liposuction is a safe and effective way to remove stubborn fat from the body.
Liposuction isn’t intended to help a person lose weight, instead it should be viewed are method to sculpt the figure when diet and exercise has failed. The perfect candidate for liposuction is at a healthy weight that has been maintained for a significant period of time. The fat from liposuction can also be used as a substitute for cosmetic fillers.
An experienced cosmetic surgeon will gently remove the fat so the patient will be one step closer to looking their best.
