Paula Abdul confirmed in a statement Tuesday she is out as an X Factor judge. The singer and former American Idol judge said she holds no hard feelings towards close friend Simon Cowell, who produces the show and stars as a judge.
"Yes, it's true; I won't be returning to The X Factor next season. I've learned through my longevity in this industry that business decisions often times override personal considerations. Simon and I, along with Fox and Freemantle, have been communicating about this for a while now, and I have absolute understanding of the situation,” Abdul said in a statement.
"Simon is, and will remain, a dear friend of mine, and I've treasured my experience working this past season with my extended family at Fox and Fremantle," the 49-year-old said. "I want nothing more than for The X Factor to exceed ALL of their wildest dreams. This truly has been a blessing and I am most grateful.”
Cowell, 52, has not commented. He and LA Reid are the only original cast members set to appear on season 2. On Monday it was confirmed host Steve Jones and judge Nicole Scherzinger were leaving The X Factor.
