Hollywood's Portrayal of the Elite

The film industry now generates some low quality movies that closely resemble the downward spiraling career of Paris Hilton. Hollywood’s formula for success replaces original plot development with dramas completely dependent upon 70-year-old virgin vampires, uneducated wizards, and copious amounts of female nudity. Well, we cannot complain about the nude scenes, but that tool should not also discard a film’s genuine ability to entertain its audience.

Intricate stories and well developed characters used to adequately entertain countless fans, but now they have completely disappeared from the film industry. As kids, we would often emulate those extraordinary movie characters, and wait in anticipation for a new leading role to redefine our notion of “cool.”

While our real life celebrities remain bounded by the constraints of reality, their fictional silver screen counterparts experienced no such limitations. Great actors push their roles beyond reality in order to sustain that lost genuine quality that once dominated the film industry. For these particular reasons, we choose to catalogue some of the most elite film characters in the film industry history.

Tony Stark, “Iron Man”

Stacks of cash? Check. Brilliant mind? Yep. Frequent casual sex with the most gorgeous women in the world? Just check his personal stock of penicillin to prove that fact.

Tony Stark performs the dual role of genius and play boy; during the day, he works as a C.E.O., and subsequently transforms into a mechanical super hero at night. Running a billion dollar company as well as ridding the world of injustice can be a very tough task, but Tony Stark lives up to the challenge. He accomplishes these feats, and still makes it home in time to wine and dine with his lovely assistant.

Did we also mention that Stark is one of the very few people that could get away with flying under the influence? Let’s face it, a super hero and chick magnet combination equals certified badass.

Tony Montana, “Scarface”

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Ladies, try and count back how many times your man tried pulling off their best Tony Montana impression with an awful and annoying Cuban accent. At this point, my girlfriend can count me at 53 times and counting.

But, who would not want to mimic this Kingpin and rise to the top through sheer ruthlessness? Tony Montana redefined the role of a quintessential gangsters; the man snorted coke more than Charlie Sheen could ever hope for in a lifetime. More importantly, he survived a barrage of bullets just so he could shoot off a few more enemies.

Vito Corleone, “The Godfather”

Our generation strictly knows Marlon Brando only as the guy who played the role of The Godfather. You could not complain if you are only remembered as the head of a massive criminal organization.

Vito Corleone made fat and saggy checks fashionable, and remained loved by his close ones. He represented the family man, but could easily have you tortured or murdered without even losing a second of sleep. The Don of Dons became someone not to trifle with, and one feared for his life if he were cast as one of Corleone’s enemies.

Fortunately, Corleone managed to die free from outside forces. Very few mobsters could follow the same footsteps and peacefully pass away as functioning figurehead. Despite ordering a plethora of hits in his prime, the Don would still invite you to request favors on his daughter’s wedding day.

Only one true Don remains as long as a copy of The Godfather exists.

James Bond

You definitely occupy the top ranks whenever some describes you with the phrase, “Men want to be him. Women want to bed him.”

Bond represents the model for a suave, sophisticated and highly capable man. His incredibly intelligent and quick decision-making skills allow him to succeed against any surprise. Bond also possesses a mastery of most weapons along with sufficient experience in hand-to-hand combat. All over the world, he foils evil plots and gets laid in the process. This Bond guy is simply The Man.

Nowadays, very few sequels acquire success, but the James Bond franchise remains strong after 50 years. On top of that, the Bond character also exhibits a large franchise of his own. The films never discloses his net worth, but he should be pretty well off since he can afford new top of the line suits and luxurious accommodations. Basically, the super agent role is completely synonymous with our concept of elite.

Bruce Wayne

Wayne appears to have absolute fun playing the role of the original C.E.O., playboy, superhero, and elite gentlemen. The man can kick some serious ass, and functions as the best detective in the United States. Unsurprisingly, Forbes valued Wayne’s net worth at $6.5 billion. You could surely buy a lot of black capes with that kind of cash flow.

The Caped Crusader spends his nights in Wayne Manor, a mansion complete with an original set of intricate caves. In addition, Gotham’s prince boasts a variety of stylish rides that include his Batmobile, motorcycles, and other illegal vehicles.

The film industry forgets that the quality of films depend on a solid plot and dynamic characters. Fortunately, these elite characters do not disrupt the flow of the drama; instead they reinvigorate the film by embodying idealistic qualities and living out fanciful lives that audiences can admire.
