Taran Noah Smith, a former child star who played Mark Taylor on Home Improvement, is being held in a Los Angeles jail on DUI and drug charges. According to reports, the 27-year-old was taken into custody in L.A. County early Wednesday morning when an officer found him parked in front of a fire hydrant.
The officer searched Smith’s 1998 Honda Accord after detecting a strong marijuana odor and discovered the former star was in possession of hash, a type of marijuana. Smith is suspected of being under the influence of the drug at the time of his arrest. He was taken into custody around 1 a.m. and was still being held Wednesday afternoon.
In addition to his 8 year run on Home Improvement, Smith appeared in several films and TV shows. He started a vegan restaurant, Playfood, in 2005 with then-wife Heidi Van Pelt.
