With rumors swirling that Leslie Carter, the sister of singers Aaron and Nick Carter, likely died of a drug overdose, an insider says the family “legitimately doesn't know what happened.” Leslie passed away Tuesday in upstate New York.
"They're still trying to find out (the cause of death)," the source tells Us Weekly magazine.
The 25-year-old, who was married in 2008 and has a 10-month-old daughter, was happy with her quiet life in Canada, the insider adds. "She loved her family, she loved her baby. She was happy stepping away from the show business and just living happily with her family in Canada,” the insider tells Us.
Meanwhile, Nick Carter released a statement saying he will continue touring as planned. "Performing is cathartic to me and I am dedicating the rest of my tour to my sister since she loved to watch me perform," Carter said.
His next performance is on Thursday at the Irving Plaza in New York.
