Mayor of Vicksburg accused of sexual harassment

The former chief of staff for Vicksburg Mayor Paul Winfield has accused him of sexual harassment in a lawsuit filed on February 1st.

Kenya Burks worked for Winfield from July 2009 to April of 2010 and had a consensual relationship with him. Burks broke of her relationship with Winfield, but he continued to make unwanted sexual advances towards her. 
Burks’ lawsuit alleges that Winfield was physically abusive. She also said Winfield retaliated against her after she ended their relationship by eliminating her position, according to the Clarion-Ledger. 
Both sexual harassment and retaliation are violations of federal law and sexual harassment attorney will hold the accused accountable for their actions. 

Winfield denies Burks’ allegations and stated that he did not vote on her termination. Winfield added that his lawyer is looking into whether Burks committed fraud while working with him, as reported by WAPT. 
Winfield’s attorney Travis Vance called Burks’ statements, “fabrication and lies.” 

Burks’ attorney said they have text messages that will corroborate her allegations. They will also introduce video tapes from Burk’s apartment which shows Winfield coming and going.
