Semi -truck erupts into a blaze on Connecticut interstate, car flees the scene

A Wednesday afternoon accident involving a semi-truck two other vehicles, one of which fled the scene, caused a blaze that shut down the southbound lanes of I-95.

A semi-truck ran into a barrier, overturned and caught on fire. Firefighters jumped a fence on near their station on Fia and climbed down an embankment on Fairfield Avenue to reach the scene. They carried fire extinguishers and the Jaws of Life. They were able to able to put out the blaze before it reached the cab of the truck where the driver was trapped. Firefighter extricated the driver, according to the Hour online.

The wheels of the truck were dislodged from the truck and the trailer was several yards away from the cab. Several barrels of olives and 30 to 40 gallons of fuel spilled on the highway.

The driver suffered from bone fractures, but was speaking to firefighters as they removed him from the cab.

Police are still investigating to determine the cause of the accident. They are looking for a car that fled the scene.

The truck driver may consider hiring a truck accident attorney to recover any losses resulting from the accident. Injuries and property damage costs can add up quickly and a truck accident attorney will make certain the victims are justly compensated.

A truck accident lawyer will devote time and resources to determining who was responsible for the accident and hold them accountable for their recklessness.
