Police Report: Leslie Carter Cause Of Death Appears To Be Drug Overdose

According to a police report released Thursday, Leslie Carter’s cause of death appears to be a drug overdose. The 25-year-old died at her father and step-mother’s Mayville, New York home Tuesday afternoon after her step-mother, Ginger Carter, found her asleep in the shower and helped her to bed earlier in the day.

Ginger told police that she checked on Leslie, who had a history of mental illness and was taking medication for depression, multiple times throughout the day. At one point in the afternoon, Ginger discovered Leslie was not breathing and called 911 while Leslie’s father, Robert Carter, attempted CPR. Paramedics took the aspiring singer to Westfield Memorial Hospital. She was pronounced dead at 4:59 p.m.

The incident reports states several prescription medications were found near Leslie’s body. The drugs included Olanzapine, used to treat bipolar disorder; Cyclobenzaprine, a muscle relaxant; and Alprazolam, which is prescribed to treat anxiety. An autopsy was conducted and test results are expected within 6 weeks. The official cause of death will be determined after the results are received by the Chautauqua County coroner's office.

Leslie is the sister of singers Aaron and Nick Carter. She was an aspiring singer, wife, and mother to a 10-month-old daughter named Alyssa.
