Tracy Morgan says he is “saddened” by false claims recently made by his estranged mom, Alicia Morgan, and sister, Asia Morgan. Alicia has accused Morgan, who Forbes estimates is worth $18 million, of refusing to save her Ohio home from foreclosure. She claims that she asked for $25,000 to pay off her mortgage, but Morgan would only agree to give her “a one shot deal of $2,000.”
Alicia said she fell behind on her $400 house payments last year after losing her job. The bank will begin foreclosure proceedings on February 23 if Alicia, 61, does not make a minimum payment. Asia Morgan tells New York Daily News her brother “has never been a nice person and money’s just made it worse.” She also told CNN her mother will “end up on the streets” if she cannot come up with the money to save her house.
"She has asked all of her children for help, but we are no in a position to do so," Alicia added. "We all have jobs, but Tracy is the only one in a position to help."
In a statement released Thursday, Tracy said he chooses to deal with his “family issues” in private. "I am saddened that these untrue stories about me have people questioning my commitment to my family. For reasons that are between us, I have not seen my Mother in 11 years and outside of a random call here and there have had little to no contact with my sister,” he said. “We all have personal family issues that we have to deal with in life, but I choose to deal with mine in private and not through the media.”
