William Hazelgrove, who writes in Ernest Hemingways attic in Oak Park Illinois and writes a literary cultural blog, has lived the nightmare. "I bought the big house like everyone else in the boom and looked around and saw what the American Dream had become. It was impossible to sustain." Hazelgrove sat down and wrote about what he saw as the American Nightmare, people being used as pawns with their houses worthless, 401ks gutted, leaving people looking for meaning in a society based on materialism.
Highly reviewed with Chicago Sun Times comparing the book to Irving and Updike, Rocket Man http://www.amazon.com/Rocket-Man-William-Elliott-Hazelgrove/dp/146817033... has become the story of the middleclass man under seige from all sides. "I didnt' set out to write a book about the Ninety Nine Percent," Hazelgrove continued from his office in Hemingway's attic, but after seeing the Occupy Wall Street Movement, I knew that my main character, Dale Hammer, would be right down there with them."
