When Kim Kardashian announced she was divorcing Kris Humphries after a mere 72 days of marriage she faced a great deal of backlash. Now HollywoodLife.com has learned that the trial to determine if she committed fraud will be taped and televised.
Kim filed for divorce on October 31st. Kris Humphries who is Catholic responded by requesting an annulment alleging that Kim entered into the marriage for fraudulent reasons.
The most recent season of Kourtney and Kim Takes New York has been focused on the divorce. But Kim and her divorce attorney cannot finalize the divorce until the annulment case has been settled. If she is found to have entered the marriage fraudulently then there will be no divorce settlement and she will be subjected to more civil cases by Kris.
A source close to Humphries told HollywoodLife that the trial is open to the public and television cameras will be present and will likely televise the proceedings.
Kim and Kris will appear in court by the end of the summer. The trial could last for weeks.
The only way for Kim to avoid a very public trial would be to settle with Kris or admit that she committed fraud and have the marriage annulled. Either way this is a not good for Kim who has damaged her brand with this divorce fiasco.
If the annulment is granted any pre-nuptial agreement drafted by a divorce lawyer will be void.
Divorce lawyers can sometimes prevent highly publicized proceeding by drafting settlements that both parties agree on.
