New York Nicks forward Amare Stoudemire loses brother in accident with semi-truck accident

Lake Wells, FL- A spokesman for the New York Nicks spokesman announced that the brother of Amare Stoudemire died in an accident early Monday morning.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Hazell Stoudemire, Amare’s older brother,  was driving at a high rate of speed while traveling north on Highway 27 around 2am Monday morning. Hazell’s Escalade slammed into the rear of a tractor-trailer. He died on the scene.

Hazell,35, was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.  

Amare was close to his older brother and his family. He will not be playing in today’s game against Utah Jazz. A spokesman for the team said they were not sure when Armare will return adding that he should take all the time he needs.

Police are still investigating the accident.
