Country music star Randy Travis spent several hours in jail Monday morning after he was arrested for public intoxication. The Denton County Sheriff’s Department in Texas has confirmed Travis was booked at Denton Country jail at 1:30 a.m. A sheriff’s spokesman said someone detained for public intoxication is typically held for “at least four hours, time to sober up.” It is unclear when Travis, 52, was released.
A police officer found the musician inside a vehicle parked in front of the First Baptist Church in Sanger. An open bottle of wine was in the car and Travis slurred his words as he talked. The officer said Travis “was unaware of his location and kept asking me to take him home.”
Travis has not commented.
