Drug Rehab Handles Drug Cravings

Reducing cravings is critical to effective treatment.

Reducing cravings is critical to effective treatment.  Cravings can be so relentless that a drug addict will do almost anything to make them cease.  Without directly addressing this factor, drug treatment, no matter how comprehensive is likely to fail.

The Narconon
Drug Rehab Program reduces drug cravings by fully cleansing the body of drug residues, and aiding the body in healing itself after the ravages of drug abuse.

This is because drugs and their metabolites quickly become undetectable in blood and urine, some as rapidly as 3 days after the last usage. However, these substances are known to be stored in the fat tissue. Research has established that both pharmaceutical and so-called recreational drugs can remain in the body for en extended time. For example, marijuana can be found in urine up to 77 days after the last use of the marijuana.

When fats are mobilized during times of stress or hunger, the drug residues are also mobilized and go into the bloodstream. These residues can trigger cravings that are almost impossible to resist. Hence, relapse occurs.

The accumulated drug residues, which continue to cause drug cravings, a factor in relapse, led researchers to develop a program aimed at reducing levels of toxins in the body to assist in recovery.

The purpose of the Narconon New Life Detoxification Program is to purge the body of drug residues, thus greatly reducing or completely removing drug cravings. This is accomplished through an exact regimen that consists of the following:
  •  Exercise, preferably running, to stimulate circulation.
  • Prescribed periods in a low heat sauna to promote perspiration.
  • An exact regimen of vitamin, mineral and oil intake.
  • Sufficient liquids to offset the loss of body fluids through sweating.
  • Regular diet supplemented with plenty of fresh vegetables.
  • A properly ordered personal schedule, which provides the person with the normally required amounts of sleep.
Once cravings are reduced and a person is no longer distracted by them, there is freedom to learn about oneself and to develop those skills necessary for a drug free and successful life through the life skills courses.

The first of the Life Skills Courses is the Overcoming the Ups and Downs in Life Course. Most drug abusers are associated with others who take drugs and promote anti-social activities.  Often these individuals have strongly influenced the drug abuser to continue with drug-taking behavior.  The client learns not only how to recognize these individuals, but also learns why things may not have gone well for them in life in general.

Students frequently identify specific individuals who have adversely influenced them in the past and develop ways to diffuse the situations so that the influences no longer have any power, or learn how to disconnect from these individuals.

This course is designed to help students recognize and successfully resolve those influences in their environments that have caused them unhappiness and failure.  This is necessary for future stability and happiness.

Completing this course makes the student less susceptible to those who would influence them to revert to
drug abuse or crime.
