Virginia Addict Successfully Recovers Through Narconon Drug Rehab

Virginia native Ramsy Darwish knows what it’s like to be addicted to prescription drugs. Several years ago, after a car crash, he was prescribed them by a doctor and was instantly hooked. “Before I knew it I was chasing opiates on a daily basis and had more problems than I ever thought I could learn to live with,” he says. “I knew I needed drug rehab, but I was scared.”

Ramsy’s family acted quickly to get him into a drug treatment program.  As much as they loved their son, they were also being hurt because of his addiction. They gave him an ultimatum telling him that he had to go into a rehab program. They weren’t going to watch him kill himself any longer.

The program that Ramsy went to was the
Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. A long-term residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program, Narconon has been helping addicts since 1966 successfully recover from drug addiction and achieves a more than 70% success rate.

Today Ramsy Darwish has been off drugs for several years and is one of many Virginia residents that have undergone
drug rehab through Narconon with positive results for permanent sobriety.

With his successful recovery, Ramsy makes every attempt to share his story with others that are addicted to prescription medications and other drugs. He recently appeared on the Rick Sanchez news program on CNN that was about prescription drug addiction in a segment entitled
America's "Other" Drug Problem Prescription Medication Abuse.

In his interview, Darwish explains that with prescription medication addiction you don’t hear about it as much because the drugs are legally prescribed in many cases but that more and more people are getting addicted to them every day. Just in Virginia alone drugs like OxyContin®, Percocet®, Vicodin® and Dilaudid® are currently among the most abused drugs in the state.

Right now the state of Virginia actually has nearly 140,000 citizens who have reported needing drug treatment in the state but have not received it, many of which are addicted to prescription medications and need good treatment if they are ever going to stop using.
