Randy Travis has apologized for his early morning arrest in Texas yesterday. The country music star says his drunken state was the result of Super Bowl-related partying.
"I apologize for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl," Travis told The Wrap. "I'm committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions."
The 52-year-old was taken into custody outside the First Baptist Church in Stanger after a police officer found him inside a parked car with an open bottle of wine. Travis slurred his words as he talked to the officer. The policeman said Travis “was unaware of his location and kept asking me to take him home.”
Travis was booked for public intoxication at Denton Country jail at 1:30 a.m. A sheriff’s spokesman said someone detained for public intoxication is typically held for “at least four hours, time to sober up.” It is unclear when Travis was released.
