Storm chaser killed in weekend accident

Sapulpa, OK – A Weather Channel storm chaser and one other person was killed in a head on collision Saturday on an Oklahoma highway.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol said that a driver of a white pickup was traveling the wrong way on Creek Turnpike. The truck then entered Turner Turnpike still going the wrong way and ran into the vehicle driven by Andrew Gabrielson. Two other vehicles were also involved in the accident.

The Weather Channel stated that Gabrielson was leaving an assignment in Texas heading home. Gabrielson, who chases tornadoes, was trapped in his vehicle for at least an hour while emergency crews worked to free him from the wreckage.

Gabrielson and the wrong way driver were both killed in the accident. The two other drivers involved in the crash had minor injuries.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol believes alcohol may have been the reason the driver was traveling the wrong way.

Intoxicated drivers pose great dangers on the road as this accident demonstrates. There reckless disregard for other drivers clearly shows negligence on their part and can be easily established by an accident attorney.

Accident victims and their families face expensive medical bills and other related costs. With an accident lawyer on their side they can negotiate for favorable settlements from insurance companies. The victims of intoxicated or otherwise negligent drivers can retain an accident lawyer to begin building a civil case if they chose to seek compensation for their injuries or property damage.
