Healthy Diet Plans for Baby Boomers

Jayson Hunter offers advice on healthy diet plans for baby boomers

Baby boomers will soon be retiring in the next few years and need to adopt healthy diet plans to keep themselves healthy. Registered dietitian, Jayson Hunter offers advice on healthy diet plans for baby boomers. He believes that with the rising costs of healthcare in our country, it is imperative that baby boomers go on healthy diet plans which will keep them healthy and reduce their healthcare costs after they retire.

Jayson explains, “Once we retire, we have to live off the nest egg we worked so hard to create over the years. Nobody would want to see their lifelong savings being drained away due to expensive healthcare and related expenses. Healthy diet plans for baby boomers ensure that they eat healthy and eat right for their age”. He adds, “Add to the healthcare costs is the recession which has resulted in many job losses for baby boomers as well. Healthy diet plans can help you reduce your costs and save for a more stable retirement in such an adverse economic environment”.

Here is Hunter’s advice on healthy diet plans for baby boomers:

1) Eat more vegetables – Include more vegetables in your healthy diet plan. Vegetables are a great source of many vitamins and minerals which are essential to keep you healthy.

2) Avoid all processed and pre-packaged foods – At this age, it is better to avoid any foods with harmful preservatives and fats. Stick to healthy home cooked meals and natural foods as far as possible.

3) It’s not about how much you eat, but more about what you eat – Healthy diet plans ensure that you eat the right foods from the food pyramid in the right proportions. They are not restrictive when it comes to certain food and in fact encourage that you eat a healthy balanced diet.
