Rick King joined King Law Group PLLC of Austin, Texas in June 2011. Today, Rick leads KLG's Commercial Litigation team. Rick has a broad range of experience in all aspects of business litigation matters in both federal and state courts, including serving as lead litigation counsel at trial, with an emphasis on matters involving commercial and residential real estate litigation, intellectual property, trade secrets, antitrust contracts, fraud and other business torts. He has represented clients in various industries including real estate, computer software, telecommunications, construction, financial services and securities. Much of his practice has concerned the representation of corporations facing civil and criminal investigations by federal and state governments. Rick has substantial experience in international litigation and arbitration including the representation of a major United States corporation in its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) arbitration against Mexico.
Rick’s practice takes him to the state and federal courts throughout of Texas and most of the country. He has broad experience representing Fortune 500 companies in complex commercial lawsuits and arbitrations. Rick also regularly represents small- and medium-sized businesses, in contract, copyright and trademark, and investment disputes. Rick calls upon his extensive real estate experience in representing landlords, tenants, and investors in commercial real estate disputes, and residential home owners in wrongful foreclosures cases.
Rick joined King Law Group because it combined the quality of large-firm representation with the kind of dedicated client services, aggressiveness, and responsiveness that only a smaller firm can provide. Rick understands that it is crucial to be the most zealous advocate for clients with a strategy tailored to achieve the most favorable results in every case. Rick takes an aggressive approach and is always results-oriented while focusing on the needs and resources of his individual clients.
Prior to joining King Litigation Group PLLC, Rick worked for Munsch Hardt in Austin, Texas and previous to Munsch Hardt, he worked for Baker Botts in Washington, DC. Out of law school, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable John H. Hannah, Jr., of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and Robert M. Parker of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Rick's practice areas are business disputes, fraud, copyright and trademark infringement, real estate disputes, bankruptcy adversary actions, landlord-tenant disputes, wrongful foreclosure defenses, first party insurances litigation, third party insurance litigation, theft of trade secrets, employment disputes, and construction litigation.

Prior to attending law school, Rick worked as a commercial real estate consultant and appraiser. Following law school, Rick was a law clerk to the Honorable John H. Hannah, Jr., Judge for the United States District court for the Eastern District of Texas and to the Honorable Robert M. Parker, Circuit Judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Rick began his private practice career at Baker Botts LP in Washington, D.C., where he worked on a wide variety of
complex commercial cases, numerous international arbitrations, and the 2000 presidential election fight. After returning to Texas, Rick worked for both small- and medium-sized law firms before joining King Law Group.
