Update: Hijackers of Turkish plane surrender, seeking political asylum

The two Turkish men that hijacked a Turkish Airlines flight traveling from Tirana, Albania to Istanbul have surrendered. The men are now seeking political asylum.

They hijacked the Turkish Airlines plane while in Greek air space and were quickly flanked by four Greek fighter jets who escorted the plane to the Italian city of Brindisi.

There were no reports of injury in the hijacking that was spawned from a scheduled papal visit to Turkey by Pope Benedict XVI.
