AS “PILL MILLS” CLOSE, DRUG REHAB IN FLORIDA WILL NOW BECOME MORE IMPORTANT TO THOSE ADDICTED TO PRESCRIPTION DRUGS

Drug Rehab Can Help

Late last month Florida Governor Charlie Crist signed a prescription monitoring law that will close the loop holes that have allowed pain clinics receiving cash payment to prescribe pain pills to patients without any monitoring at all. Many residents of Florida have become addicted to these pills and now need drug rehab.

Florida was one of only 12 states that didn’t have the prescription monitoring system in place. This is a big reason that Florida was such a haven for prescription drug abuse prescription drug diversion. Individuals addicted to prescription pain pills experience extreme withdrawal symptoms when they try to stop taking the drugs or run out.

Until now, it has been relatively easy for a prescription drug abuser to go to a pain clinic, complain of pain, and walk out with a prescription. In fact, it has been common for the user to go to multiple clinics to get prescriptions. Now that the pills will be harder to obtain, those who are addicted may start looking into drug rehab programs where they can go to receive professional assistance withdrawing from the drugs and overcoming the addiction.

Suncoast Rehabilitation Center in Spring Hill, FL has a very effective program for prescription drug addiction. “Many of our clients come to us addicted to pain pills. Drugs like oxycontin have become a huge problem in this state and across this nation. The good news is that more than 70% of our program graduates never relapse to drugs again ” said Eric Mitchell the facilities President.
