Entrepreneur of the Week: Larry Ellison

Larry

Ellison is not your typical billionaire. The team here at Elite Daily considers Ellison as a legend at the age of 67. We have come to realize that although many people aspire for overnight success there is much to look forward to as the years go on. With an estimated net worth of $33 billion according to Forbes, Ellison is a master at the art of spending. As an avid collector of real estate, cars, airplanes, yachts and women, he regularly exceeds his billion dollar credit limit.

With all the success he has achieved it not only shows materialistically, but also within his enormous ego. While some may frown at the thought of having an excessive ego, we recognize it as a necessary byproduct of one’s lifestyle to acclimate to the rest of your physical surroundings.

His lifestyle is comparable to Hollywood’s finest storyline. Starting from modest beginnings and becoming a billionaire several times over, he is the kind of rich that we dream of being.

On the Open Water

Ellison is an avid sailor and yacht collector. His prized possession on the open seas is the Rising Sun. This enormous yacht measuring in at 452 feet and 5 stories high was only the fourth biggest yacht when built. No big deal, right? The yacht boasts amenities for the ultra rich  making it more like a cruise ship than a yacht. It features jacuzzi bathrooms, a gym, a spa and salon, a wine cellar, a private cinema and a basketball court on the main deck that doubles as a helicopter pad. True to his competitive nature, the specs of the yacht were specifically built to be larger than Paul Allen’s Octopus superyacht.

Date the Employees, Regularly

When you’re a billionaire, attractive, arrogant and egotistical than you meet all the prerequisites of being a true ladies man. It’s no surprise that Ellison has been known to date his employees. It’s almost impossible to know whether these ladies are leeching on to Ellison or if Ellison is the predator. Either way, we feel that every one walks away a winner. In his 1997 autobiography he had even admitted to dating three employees at once. Bravo, Mr. Ellison, bravo.

Not Afraid to Settle Down

While he is a very well documented ladies man, Ellison is not opposed to marriage. As a seasoned veteran of the constitution of marriage, he holds four divorces under his belt and we can only imagine the settlements he must be paying out. Although his marriages were short lived, he stayed with his third wife long enough to father two children.

Living on His $110 Million Property

Four divorces means a lot of settlements. How does the Elite billionaire solve this issue? By creating an estate with multiple mansions. His most famous property in Woodside, California does exactly that. The estate was styled to look like a feudal Japanese village comprised of several mansions, complete with a two-acre man made lake.

Luxury Indulgence

Larry Ellison is also a jet pilot and an avid collector of jets, naturally. He once sued the City of San Jose after he was cited for too many late-night landings in violation of a noise control ordinance. Although he didn’t really win, the judge gave Ellison a special waver for his plane, allowing him to land late at night in spite of the ordinance.

No Sympathy for Enemies

Ellison is known for having a mouth as big as his ego. He does not hesitate in berating his enemies.

“Being nice is an essential strategy for pursuing happiness. That plus excelling at your life’s work are the only avenues leading to happiness that I’ve found so far … I don’t, however, believe in being nice to my enemies. My enemies are trying to deprive me of the success that led to my happiness. I want to beat my enemies, and it’s hard to be nice to them at the same time,” he said in the biographical book on his life.
