Intoxicated driver kills stranded motorist waiting inside police car

Illinois- Frank R. Caruso was stranded on the side of Eisenhower Expressway near Addison after his SUV broke down and while waiting in the back of a patrol car he was killed early Saturday morning.

Caruso’s SUV stalled after a minor traffic accident, while he was waiting for his girlfriend to pick him form the accident scene the responding officer allowed him to sit in the back of his patrol car to keep warm. The patrol car had the emergency flashing lights on and could easily be seen.

While the officer and Caruso were waiting, a car driven by Daniel Clark slammed into the back of the patrol car. The car spun around two times and the police officer was thrown into the back of the car on top of Caruso.

Caruso died at the hospital shortly after the crash.

The driver who struck the patrol car Daniel Clark admitted to police that he had been drinking. His blood alcohol level was .08 percent. He was also talking on his cell phone to keep awake at the time of the accident.

So often people take the risk of driving after having a few drinks without thinking about the danger they pose to others. An accident attorney can make certain these negligent drivers pay for the harm they cause another person.

An accident lawyer will make certain that any victims of a traffic accident get the maximum compensation the law allows. The money obtained by an accident attorney cannot replace health or a lost loved on but it will alleviate any financial burdens placed on an injury victim.
