A member of Whitney Houston’s family has spoken out against speculation the singer may have committed suicide. Billy Watson, whose sister is married to Houston’s older brother, tells ABCNews.com Houston’s tragic death “is accidental” because there is no way she would have left her daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
"She wouldn't have left her daughter like that. She wouldn't have done that to her daughter,” he said.
Houston was found dead in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday afternoon. Although her head was submerged underwater, authorities reportedly do not believe she died of drowning. Sources close to the Houston family say it appears the 6 time Grammy winner died from a combination of alcohol and prescription drugs. The Los Angeles County Coroner will determine the official cause of death after autopsy and toxicology results are reviewed.
The coroner’s office cleared Houston’s body for release Monday and funeral plans are reportedly underway in her birthplace of Newark, New Jersey. Sources say the funeral is scheduled for the end of this week. Whigham Funeral Home is said to be handling the arrangements.
