Jennifer Hudson Opens Up About Emotional Whitney Houston Tribute

Jennifer Hudson tells Us Weekly magazine her tribute to the late Whitney Houston at Sunday’s Grammy Awards was the “greatest honor of my life.” Houston died just one day before the Grammys, so Hudson had little time to prepare for her emotional performance of Houston’s hit “I Will Always Love You.” Hudson fought back tears as she sang.

"It was the greatest honor of my life to be able to be the one to pay tribute to Whitney's memory. It was from my heart. I haven't stopped crying since she passed. Her family is in my prayers,” Hudson tells Us Weekly.

Houston was found dead in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday afternoon. The L.A. County Coroner has not determined the official cause of death, but it has been widely reported that officials believe Houston died from a combination of prescription drugs and alcohol. She was 48.

The six-time Grammy winners body was flown to New Jersey late Monday night. A private funeral is scheduled for Saturday at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark.
