Tractor trailer truck jackknifes on Maine freeway causing traffic delays

A tractor trailer traveling south bound on the Maine Turnpike jackknifed early this morning causing traffic delays for close to three hours.

State police said that Paul Reagan, 55, of New Hampshire was traveling southbound around 6 am when he swerved across all three lanes of traffic to avoid a collision with another commercial truck.

After Reagan’s truck crossed the three lanes his truck ran into a concrete barrier and jackknifed. The trailer was empty at the time of the accident and the cab was demolished. The truck blocked two of three lanes on the Turnpike, delaying traffic for hours; the truck was removed from the roadway around 10:30 am.

Reagan incurred minor injuries and was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital where he was treated and released.

Truck accidents often result in serious injuries or destruction of property.  The injuries sustained can lead to death, permanent or temporary disability. The victims will accumulate costly medical bills while they recover, they will also lose much needed income if they are unable to work. Victims of these collisions have the choice of settling with insurance companies or going to court to seek compensation with the assistance of a truck accident attorney.

Anyone seeking compensation should immediately hire a truck accident lawyer to begin building an effective case. When a truck accident attorney is working on a case the victims can be assured that they will get the most favorable settlement allowed to replace their property and pay their medical bills.
