A tractor-trailer truck carrying a load of eggs tumbled off of Interstate 5 and crashed onto an on-ramp below.
The accident occurred around 11 am Tuesday, in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 as a tractor trailer and a black Honda were approaching the Ravenna Boulevard exit.
According to the Washington State Highway Patrol, a Ford Mustang made a sudden lane change in front of the truck and the Honda causing them to swerve in opposite directions. The Honda slammed into a concrete barrier on the right side of the Interstate. The semi swerved to left and tumbled onto the Ravenna on-ramp upside down.
The fuel tanks on the truck ruptured, spilling an unknown amount of diesel fuel onto the roadway. Landscaping crews rushed to the scene and created a barrier which prevented the fuel from spilling into a storm drain.
Three people in the Honda had to be extricated, but did not sustain any life-threatening injuries. SeattlePI.com reported that the truck driver incurred serious injuries.
Clean-up and the destruction of property resulting from this accident will be costly, but a truck accident attorney will be able to recover some of these expenses for the interested parties.
Victims of these accidents will be eligible for compensation and can hire a truck accident attorney to seek the maximum amount allowed. A truck accident lawyer will be able to negotiate with insurance companies or try a case in court, depending on the victims’ needs.
