Vacuum truck goes haywire and plunges down an embankment trapping driver inside

Crestwood, MO- While cleaning a Sam’s Club parking lot early Wednesday morning a vacuum truck went out of control and down an embankment. The accident happened on I-44 and Big Bend, when a vacuum truck cleaning debris from the lot went out of control, jumped a guardrail and went down an embankment. Luckily for the driver the truck got hung up in trees along the embankment otherwise the truck would have plunged twenty feet down onto the highway.

A passerby saw the accident and called 911. When police and firemen arrived they found the truck hung up in the trees with the driver trapped inside. It took rescue workers an hour and twenty minutes to free the driver. The truck was hanging precariously from the trees so it had to be steadied before the driver who was trapped by the dashboard and the pedals could be extricated.

The driver told police that the brakes failed. Police believe the truck began accelerating out of control before it hit the guardrail.

Equipment failure can lead to a number of accidental injuries. If a truck accident attorney can determine who was responsible for faulty equipment they can seek compensation for the injury victims.

Truck accident attorneys have the skills necessary to effectively represent anyone involved in these accidents. If an injury victim wishes to seek damages they are advised to immediately retain a truck accident attorney truck to begin working on their case.
