Los Angeles County Police Departments Get Grant to Crackdown on DUIs

“Drunk driving is one of the most frequently committed dangerous crimes in the United States,” according Glendora Police Chief Rob Castro whose department received a grant to crackdown on drunken drivers.

The $691,000 grant was awarded to the Glendora Police Department for their participation on the Avoid the 100 campaign. Glendora police and 100 agencies in Los Angeles County routinely set up DUI checkpoints to catch drunken drivers around holidays and other times when authorities believe there will be a high number of intoxicated drivers on the road, all of whom will need the representation of a Los Angeles DUI attorney.

The grant funds will be used to staff DUI checkpoints, multi-agency DUI task force positioning and local saturation of patrols for partnering cities. The Avoid the 100 campaign will also target repeat offenders with warrant and probation sweeps. Operations will also focus on offenders with suspended driver’s licenses who drive away from DUI court proceedings.

Intoxicated drivers create a large number of accidents and police are always working diligently to stop these people from harming others. Many people, who get behind the wheel, don’t realize how drunk they are and when they are caught the only person capable of helping them with the offense is a Los Angeles DUI lawyer.

If you are anyone you know has been charged with a DUI, it is wise to find an accomplished Los Angeles DUI attorney to help build a strong defense.
