Reggie Bush, Donovan McNabb and the Chicago Bears defense star in Week 5 of NFL season

Reggie Bush scored his first touchdown in his career when the New Orleans Saints (4-1) needed it most. With the Saints trailing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-4) 21-17 and under five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Bush took a punt 65-yards up the right side of the field for his first NFL touchdown. It proved to be the game-winner as the Saints held on for a 24-21 victory and remained in first place in the NFC South.

All the focus was on Terrell Owens return to Philadelphia, by the end of the game the story centered on Donovan McNabb and his 354 yards passing, two touchdowns thru the air and one on the ground. The Dallas Cowboys (2-2) drove to the Eagles six yard line with less than 40 seconds left in the game but Drew Bledsoe threw his third interception of the game and Lito Sheppard returned it 102 yards for a Philadelphia (4-1) touchdown. Owens finished with three catches for 45 yards in the 38-24 loss.

The Chicago Bears moved to 5-0 for the first time since 1986 after dismantling the Buffalo Bills (2-3) 40-7. The Bears defense held the Bills to 145 total yards while sacking J.P. Losman three times and forcing three interceptions. The Bills touchdown came with just over a minute left in the game. The Bears defense has only yielded 36 points this year.

In other games

Eli Manning threw for 256 yards and a touchdown while Tiki Barber rushed for 123 yards as the New York Giants (2-2) knocked of the Washington Redskins (2-3) 19-3. The Redskins could only manage 164 total yards on offense.

The St. Louis Rams improved to 4-1 after stopping a late Green Bay (1-4) drive 23-20. Down by 3 and driving the Packers to the Rams 11-yardline Brett Favre had the football stripped and then recovered by defensive back Jerametrius Butler.

Carolina won for the third consecutive week and worked their way back into the NFC South race with their 20-12 victory over the Cleveland Browns (1-4). Thomas Davis had 11 total tackles for the Panthers (3-2) and DeShaun Foster rushed for 106 yards in the victory.

Peyton Manning didn’t have the big numbers but he did lead the Indianapolis Colts (5-0) to a 14-13 com from behind victory over the Tennessee Titans (0-5) to remain perfect. Tennessee got an 18 yard rushing touchdown from rookie quarterback Vince Young in his first start of the year.

Matt Leinart started for Arizona and threw two touchdown passes but the Cardinals (1-4) gave up 13 fourth quarter points and lost to the Kansas City Chiefs (2-2) 23-20. Leinart went for 253 yards in the air with an interception while Chiefs quarterback Damon Huard continued to play well throwing for 288 yards and two touchdowns.

The Minnesota Vikings (3-2) put 23 points on the board in the fourth quarter and came back to beat the Detroit Lions (0-5) 26-17. Chester Taylor ran for 123 yards for the Vikings while the Lions totaled 16 yards on the ground for the game.

Frank Gore had another big game on the ground running for 134 yards in the San Francisco 49ers (2-3) 34-20 win over the Oakland Raiders (0-4). Randy Moss caught his 100th career touchdown pass but it wasn’t enough as the Raiders gave up 27 second half points in the loss.

Tom Brady threw two touchdown passes and the New England Patriots (4-1) forced three Miami Dolphins (1-4) turnovers in a 20-10 win. Joey Harrington started for the Dolphins and threw two interceptions.

Chad Pennington threw three interceptions and the New York Jets (2-3) could only manage 177 total yards of offense as the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-2) rolled to an embarrassing 41-0 win. Fred Taylor ran for 111 yards and a touchdown and Byron Leftwich threw two touchdowns in the win.

San Diego shut out Pittsburgh (1-3) in the second half as the Chargers (3-1) beat the Steelers 23-13. Philip Rivers had a solid game for the Chargers passing for 242 yards and two touchdowns as Ben Roethlisberger struggled for the Steelers throwing two costly interceptions and was sacked five times.
