U.S. Marines Killed in Roadside Bomb Attacks in Afghanistan

Four U.S. Marines have been killed in a pair of roadside bomb attacks in Afghanistan, pushing the total number of U.S. military casualties in the country to more than 100 since the start of the year.

The U.S. military confirmed the four deaths, saying the soldiers had been killed by improvised roadside bombs on Saturday.

Taliban militants have been stepping up their attacks in Afghanistan as the country nears its presidential election set for August. Despite those attacks the military has declared the insurgents have been pushed back as offensives launched by U.S. and British troops have been proving effective.
