Student fires an AK-47 at middle school in Joplin, Missouri in latest school shooting

After pointing an AK-47 rifle at two fellow students, Principal Steve Gilbreth and Assistant Superintendent Steve Doerr, a 13-year-old student wearing a mask reportedly said “please don’t make me do this” then fired a round into the schools ceiling and breaking a water pipe.

After rupturing the pipe the boy repeated, “please don’t make me do this”, before he was persuaded to leave the building by Gilbreth and Doerr.

Upon leaving the school the boy was met by police officers who convinced the boy to lay down the weapon. He was then taken into custody.

All the students were evacuated after a note was found in the boy’s backpack indicating that a bomb had been placed in the school.

School Superintendent Jim Simpson indicated that the boy had been planning an attack for “a long time.” He then said “It was a very close call.”
