US Airways employee fatally injured on the job

Authorities reported that an US Airways employee was killed on Friday after an accident involving a conveyer belt, the Associated Press reported.

The man, 60 year-old Robert Demarco, got caught between the upper and lower conveyor belts of the baggage sorting system around noon at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

When the Phoenix Fire Department arrived Demarco was pronounced dead. Officer James Holmes said in a statement to local Fox News channel, “This appears to be a tragic accident and Phoenix Police detectives will be working hard to determine exactly how this accident occurred.” There are no indications of foul play.

A spokesman for US Airways Demarco was a maintenance employee with several years’ experience, but he was working with the baggage system at the time of the accident.

Some working environments can be hazardous to employees unless their company offers adequate safety training and equipment. An injured employee may find themselves permanently or temporarily disabled. Dealing with worker’s compensation claim can be complex and the injured will find that an accident attorney can simplify their efforts to get the compensation needed to pay for their medical care.

Accident lawyers have the skills and knowledge to help people who are injured in different types of accidents whether they are traffic collisions or workplace accidents. A personal injury victim can be confident that their accident attorney will win them a favorable financial settlement.
