Pedro Martinez may sign with the Phillies

Rumors have been circulating that Pedro Martinez may sign with the Phillies.  The WCAU-TV has reported that he will fly to Philadelphia today July 13, 2009 for a physical.  It seems like it will be a guaranteed deal.  Martinez is reported to make $ 4 million from the deal.  The deal is contingent that the 37 year old passes the physical.

The Phillies watched Martinez throw twice last week once for special assistant Charlie Kerfeld and second for Sal Agostinelli.  It was no surprise that on both occasions Martinez threw three-inning simulated games against members of the Phillies Dominican Summer League team.  These games took place at the Phillies’ baseball academy in the Dominican Republic.
