Washington woman killed in head-on collision with dump truck

A woman was killed early Tuesday morning when her vehicle, traveling the wrong way on State Route 502, collided with a dump truck head-on.

The incident occurred around 4 am when a woman in a Mitsubishi Galant with no lights on was parked in the westbound lanes of 520. The vehicle was rear-ended by a dump truck presumably because she had the lights off; the impact caused the car to rotate 180 degrees.

The woman, still with the headlights off, began driving east in the westbound lanes of Route 520 where she was hit head-on by another dump truck. The collision was so severe that the Galant was shoved underneath the dump truck. The woman died on the scene.

Julies Startup, a spokeswoman for the Washington State Patrol told KING-5 television, “We were told by witnesses that at both times there were no lights at all on the vehicle.”

Startup also said the police believed the woman was drinking.
