Actor Terrence Howard, of “Iron Man” fame and most recently “Red Tails,” is in involved in a very contentious divorce, which includes allegations of spousal abuse. And to make things worse for the actor, he has been ordered to pay his estranged wife $50,000 in spousal support.
Howard and his divorce attorney are disputing the spousal support, but the judge hearing their divorce case was undaunted and is requiring he pay almost $2,000 a month for her vehicle, $20,000 for attorney fees, $20,000 for accountant fees and $10,000 a month for spousal support.
Howard’s divorce lawyer contended that Ghent now has more money than he does. He also contends that Ghent’s allegations of spousal abuse are tarnishing his reputation.
Howard and Michelle Ghent married in April of 2010, but filed for divorce just a year later. Ghent alleges that Howard repeatedly abused her and punched her in the face. She also stated she can’t work because she has anemia, according to E!Online.
Howard accuses Michelle of using racial slurs against him, including using the N-word. Howard also alleges that she tried to extort money from him and have him killed by “the Russians,” according to TMZ.
The couple is still in the middle of their divorce and will have another court appearance in 60 days.
Divorce can bring out the worst in people as both sides try to get the most out the divorce that they can. In contentious divorces, it is critical that the parties retain an accomplished divorce attorney to protect their interests.
